It has been very cold this past week in MD. Usually we have windy spring days but it has been downright cold.

I finally got my potatoes in yesterday. My husband thought I should wait because we may get snow. I just wanted to get them in. My daughter and I prepped the soil added a lot of humus and compost.

We have a bright spot that is somewhat elevate. The plan is to plant nasturtium and other edible flowers as a front border and some sweet corn behind the potatoes so it will be green and colorful in a few months.
Only the potatoes went in. I will wait a few to put the flower seeds down then wait until May 1 for planting the corn. I like to plant sweet varieties.  The tomato and pepper seeds have been planted indoors and are starting to sprout.

This year we are trying a new method to start seeds. My husband does not like the junky look of the light huts( cardboard boxes with lights in them) so we are doing it the old-fashioned way. We planted seeds in cells then covered with toothpicks holding up a tent of plastic and putting them in a cozy spot with lots of light. We shall see!

Saturday was another day for Dance competition. It is a long day for the girls but they seem to really enjoy the dancing and the fun times with their teammates. They had a blast. We came home, had a quick nap, then went out to the garden. Then we went to Mass and got some palms.

Had a nice dinner( my son made beer battered fish!).

Dyed Easter eggs this morning.

It has been a fun weekend. I am hopeful that after the supposed snow they are calling for “falls”, we will finally be on our way to spring. I am so tired of cold weather and looking forward to being warmed by the sun and yes, those DC summer dog days! Give me “heat and humidity” any day over frigid windy colorless days.
